Numismatica Font Examples

CautionThis is an outdated 8-bit font. It is not a Unicode font and is unsuitable for use on Internet web pages. It may be useful for internal documents or those to be exchanged with others who own the same font.

This page uses the Numismatica font to present a table of characters and give some comparative examples of coin legends using the font.

TrueType Adobe OpenType  NOTE: You cannot view this page properly without the having the Numismatica 8-bit font installed on your computer. Please download the Numismatica font.

Additional test pages are available to check Numismatica and Symbol font appearance when different source code methods have been used to place characters on a web page.

Characters in Numismatica Font

The first column is the name, second column the character's numeric value, and columns 02-15 are the numeric suffixes used to define character names for alternate characters in the font. For example, Alpha.07 = . If you have any questions about how the characters are shown in the chart below, you can view a verification image which shows a picture of the chart with the characters correctly portrayed. On this page, the characters added or changed from the beta test version are red; characters mirrored are in blue. (The original character at Eta.05 was moved to the retrograde font as Eta06.retro.) The squares without white background are reserved.

Note: the Adobe Type 1 version of this font is the primary development effort. The Truetype version is not well hinted and thus the Type 1 font usually provides a better on-screen appearance. This will be corrected in a later release. Both TrueType and Type 1 fonts look good when printed.
